Punctuation is important in Listening response:
NO!!! In the Listening Test, it is not essential to focus on punctuating the answer. Therefore you may choose to write in ALL CAPITALS or all lower case.
Its alright to not write an article or preposition as a part of an answer.
NO!!! An article or a preposition may play an important role, especially, if it is a Complete sentence or Summary completion question type. If an answer demands the presence of these essential elements, then it is mandatory to record it in the answer sheet. Else, the answer would be marked wrong.
In a paper-based test, focus on the spelling at the time of hearing the audio:
NO!!! It is not truly essential for one to focus on the spelling of an answer while listening to the audio in a paper-based test. During the time of the audio listening, the student is only expected to take note of the answers on the question paper. After the first 30-minutes, when the entire audio-playing is completed, the students would be given extra 10-minutes to transfer their answers from the question paper to the answer sheet. During this transferring time, the students may focus on the spellings.
Headsets are unavailable in the IELTS Listening Test:
NO!!! Every IELTS Test centre provides the students with individual headsets for the Listening Test. If there is any problem with the headset, the student can report it to the invigilators present in the hall, at once.
Answers may not come in order always:
NO!!! In the audio, the answers always come in order of the question. Therefore, if the student feels he/ she has missed an answer, just move on. Dont stop and regret missing an answer, because even a fraction of distraction may lead to missing many answers at length.
In IELTS there are negative markings for wrong answers:
NO!!! There is no negative marking in IELTS Listening. Therefore, please do not leave any question unanswered. If you do not know an answer, just guess!
